This week in worship Whether you call them cliques, clans, classes or cultures, we like to hang with our own kind. It grows out of a primal instinct to survive. But Jesus came to earth to enable humanity to thrive, not just survive. According to the Apostle Paul, abundant living can be found only in recognizing that Christ has made peace between Jews and Gentiles, and he has united us by breaking down the wall of hatred that separated us…He also made peace between us and God by uniting Jews and Gentiles in one body (Eph. 2:14, 16b). On July 27 we celebrate God’s eternal plan that through the church , the wisdom of God in its rich variety might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places (Eph. 3:10). Jesus calls his church to be an alternative community of diverse folk who form one body based on allegiance to Jesus Christ, not on clan or class or culture. We will also stand with To prepare, please read Ephesians 3. Come ready to praise God who reigns above, the God of all the creation which cries alleluia along with us. Come and help make the chorus swell: All is well!
